Rukhad is a small forest village situated on the Jabalpur-Nagpur highway, nearly 20 km south of the district town of Seoni, the town immortalized by Kipling in his Jungle Book stories. The Rukhad forests are now a part of the buffer zone of the Pench tiger reserve. Although these forests have been famous for their wildlife for a long time but have recently been opened to regular ecotourism, under the aegis of the MP Ecotourism Development Board, in the wake of the restrictions imposed on tourism in the core areas of the Tiger Reserves, under the orders of the Supreme Court.
